Kenya to Host Africa’s Premier Blockchain and Crypto Conference in June 2025

Kenya is set to become the epicenter of Africa’s blockchain future as the Kenya Blockchain and Crypto Conference (KBCC) 2025 returns for its third edition on June 12–13, 2025 at the A.S.K Dome in Nairobi.

Powered by Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, KBCC 2025 is poised to gather over 1,500 participants from across Africa, including developers, regulators, financial institutions, startups, and policymakers. Themed “Driving Blockchain Innovation and Mass Adoption,” the two-day event aims to accelerate the continent’s Web3 revolution through thought leadership, collaboration, and regulation.

Two Days, One Mission: Innovation and Policy Alignment

Day 1 will focus on “Blockchain for Business, Institutional Adoption & Regulation.”
This day will bring together 500+ stakeholders, including government officials and industry leaders, to explore regulatory frameworks, compliance strategies, and blockchain applications across finance, trade, and governance.

Day 2, titled “Building on Chain: Scaling Web3 Solutions,” will split into two specialized tracks:

  • A Developer Track engaging 800+ Web3 builders with workshops, code labs, and product demos.
  • A Startup Track tailored to 100 early-stage founders, featuring pitch showcases, mentoring, and funding opportunities.

A Lineup of Industry Powerhouses

In addition to Binance, KBCC 2025 has secured support from leading players in crypto and fintech, including:
Bitget, Sumsub, Busha, Tether, Telcoin, Lisk DAO, Base, Bybit, Kotani Pay, MexC, Payd, and Project Mocha.

Strategic partnerships with organizations like the Association of Fintechs in Kenya, DFSAK, and the Virtual Assets Chamber of Commerce reinforce the event’s commitment to grassroots innovation and regulatory collaboration.

Key Speakers to Watch

Attendees can expect insights from top-tier voices in the crypto and digital finance landscape, such as:

  • Andrew Letting – Africa Growth Lead, Bitget
  • Saruni Maina – Regional Operations Lead, Binance Africa
  • Eng. Andrew Masila – R&D Lead, Safaricom
  • Tim Theuri – Cybersecurity Head, M-Pesa Africa
  • Tatenda Chinodakufa – BD Manager, Africa, Sumsub
  • Nickson Omondi – Manager, Digital Economy Tax Office, KRA
  • Dr. Bright Gameli – Founder, AfricaHackon
  • Allan Kakai – Director, Virtual Assets Chamber of Commerce
  • Nathaniel Luz – President, Africa Stablecoin Network

Kenya’s Regulatory Pivot: A Major Talking Point

KBCC 2025 takes place amid critical shifts in Kenya’s digital asset regulation. The Finance Bill 2025 proposes a reduction of the Digital Asset Tax (DAT) from 3% to 1.5%, signaling government responsiveness to industry feedback.

Moreover, Kenya’s proposed Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) Bill, now in Parliament, seeks to introduce a comprehensive licensing and compliance regime—covering KYC, AML protocols, and consumer protection.

These developments mark Kenya’s growing commitment to becoming a regulated Web3 hub, and KBCC will serve as a key venue for unpacking their impact.

Voices from the Ecosystem

Sheila Waswa, CEO of Chasing Mavericks and Events Lead for KBCC 2025, emphasized the conference’s broader goals:

“At KBCC 2025, our focus is on education for mass adoption. We’re inviting businesses, innovators, and everyday citizens to explore the real-world value of blockchain.”

Larry Cooke, spokesperson for Binance, added:

“Africa’s builder ecosystem is one of the most promising globally. We’re proud to support KBCC’s mission to unlock this potential through innovation and access.”

Moyo Sodipo, Co-Founder and COO of Busha, echoed the sentiment:

“Kenya is setting the benchmark for progressive crypto regulation in Africa. At Busha, we’re here to build the infrastructure for real access, real utility, and inclusive growth.”
