Luno has announced a strategic partnership with Altschool Africa, an accredited online learning provider, to introduce a crypto learning initiative titled “Demystifying Crypto for Africans.”

The programme plans to deliver fully funded crypto education to 15,000 Nigerians, positioning it as one of the largest crypto literacy initiatives in Africa.

With an estimate of one-third of Nigeria’s population engaging with digital assets, the programme seeks to address a widening knowledge gap, which has left many users vulnerable to scams and unaware of inherent financial risks. The training aims to promote secure, safe, and more informed participation of Nigerian users in the crypto market.

Programme Structure and Curriculum

The training programme is designed for beginners and will cover five key crypto concepts, including the fundamentals of cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, wallets, exchanges, stablecoins, and research tools such as CoinGecko and Etherscan.

The programme is to be delivered in three cohorts of 5,000 each, with the first cohort commencing in March. Applications for the first cohort will open in January and February; successful applicants will be notified within one week. The second and third cohorts will commence in July and November, respectively. Applicants must be Nigerian residents, at least 18 years old, and have a Luno account.

The training is expected to run for three to four weeks. During the programme, participants would receive up to one year of access to all course materials, including video lessons, quizzes, case studies, and practical examples. Applicants who successfully complete the training course will receive an AltSchool Africa Certificate of Completion.

Abdulsamad Tiamiyu, a Web3 expert leading the programme, had noted that the initiative combines theoretical and practical learning experiences to enable learners to efficiently use cryptocurrency in everyday financial transactions.
